This Term

Pre-School Half-term is Monday 28th October - Friday 1st Novemeber 2019

Your child is our priority

Here at Hertford Heath Pre-School, we have a good understanding of children's lives and their social contexts, basing our teaching around them and their interests.

We aim to do our best for all of the children in our care, and believe that this can be accomplished by creating and maintaining close links between home and pre-school. We acknowledge that parents are a child's first educators, and encourage our parents to become fully involved in their child's learning and development.

We aim for your child to:

  • Become independent of their parents/carers for short periods of time
  • Share toys and resources, and play with other children
  • Trust new adults and accept new situations
  • Try and experiment with different materials and activities we provide
  • Be able to express themselves in lots of different ways
  • Have a go at doing things for themselves
  • Be kind towards others

Hertford Heath Pre-School will:

  • work within the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • work in partnership with parents/carers to help children to learn and develop;
  • add to the life and well-being of its community; and
  • offer children and their parents/carers a service that promotes equality and values diversity

The 7 areas of Learning:

Here at Hertford Heath Pre-School we follow the 7 areas of learning set down by the Early Years Foundaion Stage. These are seperated into 3 prime areas and 4 specific areas.

The 3 prime areas are:

1. Personal, Social and Emotional Development

2. Language and Communication

3. Physical Development

The 4 specific areas are:

4. Literacy

5. Maths

6. Understanding of the World

7. Expressive Arts and Design

We follow these areas of learning to help your child develop and grow within their appropriate ages and stages, and help them to achieve their next steps of development.
